Programmes supporting MRS

Four Interreg transnational programmes provide dedicated support to EU macro-regional strategies (MRS). Interact supports the exchange of practices and approaches among these programmes. 

The network of four Interreg transnational programmes provides a forum to discuss, exchange experiences and develop proposals for further support to the MRS. 

Who this network is for

This work is open to four Interreg transnational programmes supporting MRS governance and implementation stakeholders. 

What we are working on

In 2026, the work focuses on challenges and opportunities for Interreg transnational programmes in supporting MRS governance and implementation, and on exchanging views on Post 2027 programming. 

It builds on lessons learnt and existing recommendations, including those set out in the working paper: Transnational Interreg programmes and macro-regional strategies – together unlocking benefits for regions and citizens.
